Greensborough & District Angling Club had its annual Casting comp today at Yarrambat Park. With 11 members attending on a pretty average day it was good too see. The wind was cold and blowing hard from the South West and straight into the faces of the long distance cast course. First was a 4oz sinker and the longest was about 96 meters by John Whitfield. Next was 2oz cast and the distance was 86meters by Russell Conway. We then proceeded to have an accuracy surf cast over about 50 meters to a flag and this was wone by Tim Plummer with a 83cm distance from the stick and Russell a close second at 1 meter. From there we went to the targets which are stagered over 15 meters and you recieved 1 min on each target to hit as many times as possible. Allan Moore done the best with a total of 5 hits, and Tim, Russell, John W came second with 3 hits each, and the rest on 1 hit came third. At completion of the comp we all headed upto the BBQ's and had some food and beer. A great day and laugh was had by all those that attended.

Just Wanted to thank everyone for participating in Last week's Fishing Comp @ Stony Point in Westernport Bay, and share some photos I took from the day.

The fish caught on the day consisted of Whiting, Yakka, Gummy shark, gurnard, Rockcod, wrasse, flathead & Port Jackson .

The Results for the Comp are as follows remembering Biggest bag of fish over 30cm.

2nd - Frank
1st - Ron ( Uncle Sharkey ) just over 5kg of fish

Congrats to Ron and everyone else for participating was a great day fishing and on the water and Hope to see you all Next week for the Whiting Comp at Rye, more info at this week's Meeting Thursday night.

Lake Eppalock still a bit slow at this stage with not a lot of reports coming from there.

Whiting have been landed off Werribee in 4-5 meters of water on mussell and pippis

Some good whiting and squid have been landed down around sorrento by one of our members.

The Yarra River has some good cod being landed at Eltham but persistance is needed.

The club had a trip to Lake Mulwala over the Australia Day weekend. The fishing was rumoured to be a bit tough and this was true with 12 members fishing and a hanfull of legal size cod caught. This was a measure only comp and all fish were released. Largest was 72cm caught by Chris Beckwith on a spinner bait with a couple of Yellow Belly were caught to 54cm. The best fishing was had on the NSW side up from Kiffens Reserve. A few members headed down the river on the Saturday as the wind was strong on the lake and they managed 2 yellowbelly 47cm, 39cm and 1 cod 52cm

Good luck too all those members of the club who have headed over to Tasmania to fish the lakes for the next week or two.
